Mavericks Fall to Tomahawks Gold
by MoHilllax on March 16, 2008

On Saturday, the Mavericks lost to the Tomahawks Gold team 4 – 1. The game was slow paced on the scoreboard, but fast paced with intensity. During the first quarter, the game was back and fourth on the field. In such an unsettled match, there were many shots on the goals, but plenty of good saves by both goalies. Finally Eric Abel (2) scored with an assist by Travis Johnson (33). The Tomahawks then came back with a point to tie at the quarter. In the second quarter, the game was at a stand still until the very end of the first half. The Tomahawks just barely scored and were up at the half. At the end of the half, with the Tomahawks leading by 1, Travis Johnson came up with the face and almost scored by the buzzer. Going in to the third quarter, the Mavericks came back with a surge of intensity and controlled the game. Unfortunately the Tomahawks defense held us at bay keeping the score down to 2 – 1. Although, at the same time, when the Tomahawks did have the ball, the Mavericks defense shut them out and got the ball back. Starting the fourth quarter the Tomahawks took control and the Mavericks defense held them tightly. With the ball going back and forth, the scored was held at 2 – 1. Half way through the last quarter, the Tomahawks were able to score twice, bumping the score to 4 – 1. By the end of the game, the Mavericks held the Tomahawks, and that’s how the game ended.
